The theme of this piece came to me late in the night of January 3rd. I had just watched an anime that moved me so much. I could not stop watching! Though now I was dead tired. Turned off the light and tried to sleep. But the events I had watched kept coming back to my mind. And with those thoughts, suddenly, a theme. Tired or not, I had to write it down.

Over the next few days I worked on that theme, eventually creating a piece that starts out as neoclassical and decidedly consonant and then diverges into atonality, perhaps a bit like when one slowly abandons the wakefulness of rationality for the dream, free of all logic and convention.

After all, that is my way of "responding" to the facts and stories I encounter. In this case, I made from it a piece for solo piano, which I named "Seras," after the protagonist of the story I had seen.
