This piece is part of my dream-album about "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner". It tells of the last moments of the bird who follows the ship, and is killed wantonly, with a cross-bow, by the Ancient Mariner. The fortissimo at 1'36'' is the arrow hitting the innocent Albatross.

I wrote this piece several years ago, on piano. It was this piece that brought to me the idea of an album about Coleridge's "Rime". Regrettably, piano is *not* my instrument. Nevertheless, here I tried to play it. Please be forgiving for the many imperfections in this recording.

The piano is an old Belgian half-coda -- an Hautrive. Old though ascinating, I think.
